MASS IN THE LIVER
a.
T1W – Hyperdense Mass
b.
T2W – Hyperdense Mass
- T1W Post Contrast – Enhancement during Arterial Phase
These
are characteristics of HCC.
METASTASES
Unenhanced
CT shows
- Hypo attenuating lesion
- Central Calcification
Contrast
Enhanced CT:
Portal
Venous Phase – Thick rim of enhancement which has lower
attenuation than that of enhancing parenchyma
MRI
:
T2W
Image – Hyperintense mass with surrounding halo of lower intensity
than the center
HEMANGIOMA
CT
Contrast Enhanced shows peripheral contrast puddling in the arterial
phase of scanning
CECT
– Portal Venous phase shows enhacement of the lesion as a whole
compared to arterial phase. This centripetal enhancement is
characteristic of Hemangioma
Never
shows rim enhancement ,which is seen in malignancies, metastases.
Hemangioma
enhancement matches blood pool in all phases. If not it is either
metastases or cholangiocarcinoma
USG:
Hyperechoic
mass without shadowing with mild posterior enhancement
