Fracture of the proximal ulna with dislocation of radial head. Remember "M" - (m)ontegia and (m)edial side (ulna fracture) to differentiate from galeazzi which is distal radial fracture - lateral fracture.
"Monteggia" fracture -the injury is subdivided into 4 categories.
- Type I Bado: Fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with anterior dislocation of the radial head.
- Type II Bado: Fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with posterior dislocation of the radial head.
- Type III Bado: Fracture of the ulnar metaphysis with lateral dislocation of the radial head.
- Type IV Bado: Fracture of the proximal third of the radius and ulna with anterior dislocation of the radial head
